10!
EPIPHANY Inc. is now in its 10th year!
As President & Senior Producer/Director I have been honored to bring you documentaries, short films, web videos and television projects that have been distributed through Filmakers Library, cable channels IFC, BET, Showtime and The Sundance Channel, and a multitude of film festivals as well as broadband. Through all of our friends, family and fans, our films continue to inspire and entertain. We tell stories that matter. Thank you to everyone for this tremendous accomplishment.
Having just directed the theatre debut of my friend John Watts’s latest play about love, passion and race called “I Know The Truth“ at Manhattan Theatre Source (thanks, John!), I am fully inspired for 2009. Working with IKTT actors Soraya Butler, Ashleigh Murray, Will Winner and Rick Zahn was pure joy. Thank you Manhattan Theatre Source for the incredible run!
This year will be dedicated to post production and completion on the documentary short Meet BESS (see the trailer above). Our final shoot in Oslo last summer on Anne Brown’s 96th birthday was a success. Special shout out to the Brown Girls Burlesque for headlining a fantastic fundraiser along with dancers Candice Michelle Franklin and Victor Reddick of “Jazz Ain’t Dead“, comedienne Audrey Amey and phenomenal emcee Lonette McKee . Tax-deductible donations are still being accepted by visiting the Women Make Movies Sponsored Projects Page at http://www.wmm.com/filmmakers/sponsored_projects.shtml or by clicking on the MEET BESS link directly at http://www.wmm.com/filmmakers/sponsored_projects.shtml#894. Thank you so much for the support!
Along with all of the writing and filming and theatre directing scheduled for this year, I'm thrilled to be on the speaking circuit and look forward to sharing insights on women and African Americans in indie film with all of you. Please contact Thysha Shabazz, Shabazz Communications at 646-410-0246 or info@shabazzcommunications for bookings.
