Employee Appreciation Day -- Appreciated?

Employee Appreciation Day has passed but hopefully this weekend those who were appreciated publicly or privately at work are still celebrating!

I try to make sure this special day stays on the calendar for all who love our indie film TITLE VII—the story of the worst display of employee appreciation to exist. And we’re proud of it. TITLE VII brings all harassment incidents to the forefront in a very fun film filled with debauchery.

In the meantime, we want to share Scene 12 from the film. This scene is our intro of disruptor Darryl Montgomery, which comes after a very intense introduction to the film with our lead badass CEO, Hillary Kelsey.

TITLE VII is a rollercoaster of a ride. One bad day the office, where CEO Kelsey runs the show, turns everyone's world upside down. And it starts with the meeting of two alpha personalities with an agenda who end up in an epic battle. One will lose. Or--in the workplace of Sanger International--will this be a losing bet for all involved?

Walking is Working!

And I’m walking while I work! I have a new gig and whenever I have a chance to take those minimum 2,000 steps per day I promised myself, I take them. Why? Well, I’m walking for $5 swim lessons at our Bayer YMCA!

Swimming Backwards

That’s what happened this past weekend. I’m up to three laps—fully from shallow end to deep end—then suddenly this last outing I felt like I lost my kick. When I swim sideways it’s there. Head-on, it’s gone.

The lifeguard says, “That happens! But you’re still doing great!” I still fear the deep end, though, and slightly panic.

As I’ve written on this site in previous posts, I’m a newbie in 6ft territory. And I’ve started stretching at home again in hopes of being able to reach my toes comfortably (from years of neglect, which shames the former dancer in me) and building up my stamina. Thankfully, I feel longer (??). But I think the way I hold my body changed, though. I just couldn’t figure out how to maneuver my laps this last time.

I also have to trust myself—trust my kick! I’ll be back at it in about 48 hours. I want to work my way up to five laps and then 10 by end of March. Swimming takes a lot of energy, focus and strategy. The Trouble with Crypto

These past few weeks have been BRUTAL when it comes to cryptocurrency. I am in this industry—as a co-founder and founding COO of the charity token 3QualiTy. I have a lot to lose if this industry collapses. So I just have to express my most fervent response to all of the headlines of late: Digital currency is a currency and it is here to stay.

Cryptocurrency is a global industry. The peer-to-peer methodology is fueled by billions of users. You must remove your earnings/savings/profits from the place where companies may fold and take your earnings/savings/profits with them.

Our current projects are based in Uganda and our goal is to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rates. Currently the maternal mortality rate is at 343/100,000 live births. Most victims of maternal death are the youth ages between 13-19years. Most of what kills these mothers can be prevented. Since the youth are usually the victims, ARH is more involved in empowering girls to understand their reproductive health as it relates to pregnancy, how to avoid unwanted pregnancies,empowering them in menstruation and menstrual hygiene. Many of these girls are struggling to feed and clothe their young ones; while others are struggling to go back to school. ARH in response is trying to raise money to urgently get food and clothes for babies of about 100 girls living in Kazinga Bweyogerere close to where the main ARH office is situated and also train them in a startup money generating project that would financially sustain them."

What I know for sure about the FTX disaster

…is that FTX collapsing is but a blip on the radar compared to how impactful and immersive digital currency is around the globe. Here are my quick thoughts, in no particular order:

1) Exchanges could fail or fold at any time. Do not keep your tokens on exchanges.

2) Digital currency has been the alternative to government corruption and government coups. Pick your poison but if it weren’t for cryptocurrency even more oppressed populations would have little chance to survive oppressive regimes. Dictatorships control their subjects by controlling the media AND the banks.

3) Your digital currency moves should always begin with research and education. Knowing the warning signs will bring wins and avoid losses.

I may never participate in crowdfunding again....

…of course never say never, BUT! A team member and I from my fintech firm started a fund. He’s the manager, I’m the co-manager, and the JD Freedom Fund is about growth and planning your wins!

Even if I were “good” on my raise, I may be tempted to do a simple $500 raise on one of the crowdfunding platforms just to get the word out. That’s for real. But if you’ve tapped out all friends and family who run when you head their way, visit us at the JD Freedom Fund. We’ll welcome you with open arms—but only for a little while.

A note: We are capping the fund at a certain (low) number of participants and the JD Freedom Fund will sunset December 2032.
